Crafting
community
one stitch
at a time.

A small yarn shop with a wide open door. Whether you've never held a needle, you've finished a hundred sweaters, or you're simply curious about the warm light in the window — pull up a chair. We saved you one.

soft · warm · made by hand

For the brand new.

Never made a stitch? We'll help you cast on, choose your first yarn, and leave the shop already knitting.

For the lifelong maker.

Specialty fibers, real tools, and a fellow maker behind the counter who actually wants to talk about your gauge.

For the curious.

Just wandered over from Manito Park? Come in. Touch the yarn. Stay a while. There's no wrong reason to visit.

"You'll smell the bakery first — then the wool."

The Shop

A neighborhood
gathering place
wrapped in wool.

Twisted Stitch Yarn lives on Spokane's South Hill, just steps from the gardens of Manito Park and right next door to Rockwood Bakery. It's the kind of corner where neighbors run into each other — sometimes with a coffee in one hand and a half-finished shawl in the other.

Inside, you'll find shelves stocked with thoughtfully chosen yarns, a long table that always has room for one more, and a couple of makers who genuinely light up when you bring in a tricky pattern. We're a shop, but we like to think of ourselves first as a community — a place where projects start, friendships grow, and creativity gets the room it deserves.

What We Carry

Chosen by hand,
for hands that make.

Every skein, hook, and stitch marker in the shop earned its place on the shelf. We curate small, lean toward natural fibers and small mills, and we keep the staples you reach for every project.

Featured fibers

Wools, alpacas, cottons, and the occasional indulgent silk blend.

Yarn

01

From workhorse worsteds to a single sumptuous skein meant for one perfect shawl — fibers chosen for how they feel in your lap.

  • · Wool & merino
  • · Alpaca
  • · Cotton blends
  • · Silk blends
  • · Hand-dyed
  • · Local mills

Needles & Hooks

02

Straight, circular, double-pointed, interchangeable sets — plus crochet hooks in every size and a few ergonomic favorites worth the upgrade.

Notions

03

Stitch markers, tape measures, darning needles, blocking mats, project bags — all the small things that make a project finishable.

Tools & Supplies

04

Swifts, ball winders, gauge rulers, scissors that actually cut yarn — the gear that quietly makes everything easier.

Patterns & Books

05

A small, loved selection of pattern books and single patterns — including a few you'll only find in shops like ours.

Classes & Community

Where projects
become people
you know.

Our class schedule and our Saturday gatherings are the heart of the shop. Bring whatever you're working on — or nothing at all — and settle in.

A quick heads up

Classes are on a gentle pause until summer.

We're resting the schedule for a beat. Our full lineup of in-person classes returns just after Labor Day — and Open Knit/Crochet keeps going every single Saturday in the meantime.

Even one who doesn't knit yet. We have a hook and a smile ready.

Or just bring yourself

A pot's on. The conversation's good. Stay for an hour or all afternoon.

Reach the shop
  • In person

All classes meet here at the shop, in person, so we can sit at the table with you.

  • Class size

Spots are limited so each maker gets real attention. Registration is first-come, first-served and requires full payment to hold your seat.

  • Supplies

Yarn, needles, and supplies are usually not included with class fees. We'll send a clear list when you register, and we'll happily help you choose everything in-store.

  • Minimum

Classes need at least 2 students to run.

  • Ages

Group classes are for ages 16 and up, unless a class is specifically noted as open to younger makers.

  • Refunds

Class fees are non-refundable. With at least 3 days' notice before your class, we can convert your fee to store credit or transfer it to another class. After that window, we're unable to issue credit or transfers.

  • Missed class

We're not able to offer make-up sessions for missed classes.

  • If we cancel

If the shop cancels a class — for any reason — you'll receive a full refund. No questions, no hoops.

Private & Semi-Private Lessons

Usually capped at 4–6 people so everyone gets hands-on help.

No minimum age. Curious kids welcome — children under 12 just need an adult or guardian present.
